Privacy Policy

This notice describes what personal information about you may be used and disclosed and how you can get access to this information.

The Delaware Valley Safety Council, Inc. (DVSC) is committed to protecting the privacy and accuracy of your personal information to the extent possible, subject to provisions of state and federal law. Other than as required by law information is not actively shared. Specifically, we do not distribute or sell personal information collected from our web servers.

Note:  The Privacy Act and other rules applicable to public entities do not apply.  The DVSC is a private organization retained by private employers for training and verification of employees. Part of our processes involves using an employee’s social security number to verify an employee’s identity and to verify the employee’s previous coursework and examination results.

Information Collected

The DVSC may collect personal information such as name, address, e-mail address, telephone number(s), user id’s, passwords, social security numbers, billing information, transaction, credit card information and contact preferences.  Such personal information may be requested by us for administrative purposes.

Web servers typically collect, at least temporarily, the following information: Internet Protocol (IP) address of computer being used; web pages requested; referring web page; browser used; date and time. DVSC may collect statistics identifying IP addresses from which our websites are accessed.

Use of Collected Information

Your confidential information (Social Security Number) may be released by the Delaware Valley Safety Council to the Association of Reciprocal Safety Councils (“ARSC”) for assisting ARSC associate safety councils with verification of your completion of certain required training programs and/or your eligibility to refresh training programs for which you qualify.

We may use personal information collected from websites for future communication back to you, to keep you informed of training or special events, but only if you are provided the opportunity to opt out of that type of use.

We may use your social security number so we can recognize you. We use this information to complete and support the immediate activity requested, verify previous coursework and examination results, and to comply with any requirements of law. This information may be disclosed to our staff and agents, and to other councils with whom we have reciprocal agreements.

The DVSC may use browser-IP-address information and anonymous-browser history to report information about site accesses and for profiling purposes. This information is generally used to improve web presentation and utilization and may be used for troubleshooting purposes.

Some DVSC online activity sites may use “cookies” to deliver web content specific to individual users’ interests or to keep track of online purchasing transactions. Sensitive personal information is not stored within cookies.

Distribution of Collected Information

The DVSC will not disclose, without your consent, personal information collected about you, except for when disclosure is required by law.

We will not distribute or sell personal information to third-party organizations.

Individual choice

Individuals who wish to use methods other than online enrollment may submit registration forms by email or U.S. mail.

Access to your own information: Questions regarding users’ rights to review, modify or delete their previously provided personal information should be directed to the safety council registration office.

Responsibility for Linked-To Sites

While using DVSC website, you may encounter hypertext links to the Web pages of organizations not directly affiliated with the safety council. DVSC does not control the content or information practices of external organizations. We recommend you review the privacy statements of these organizations.

Onward Transfer

Personal data given to the DVSC may be transferred across state and country borders for the purposes of data consolidation, storage and simplified customer information management.

Security, Access & Accuracy

DVSC is committed to ensuring the security of your information. DVSC strives to keep your personal information accurate. We have put in place managerial data standards, review processes and technological tools to maintain data accuracy. We will provide you with access to view and change your information, including making every effort to provide you with online access. To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity, such as a password and/or user ID, before granting access to your data. Certain areas of the DVSC web sites may limit access to specific individuals using passwords and other safeguards.

This privacy statement applies to all DVSC controlled web sites and domains.

Changes to Policy

This policy may change over time. Your continued use of the site after these changes are posted constitutes your agreement to the changes about information collected.
